ABOUT HAFIZ IKHLAS
I’m Mohd Nor Hafiz, professionally known as Hafiz Ikhlas — a bird guide and bird photographer based in Malaysia.
I have spent more than 10 years birding and photographing birds across Malaysia, with Fraser’s Hill being one of the places I know best.
My journey in birding has also taken me into competition. I am a three time Champion of the Fraser’s Hill International Bird Photography competition, winning in 2023, 2024 and 2026. In 2026, I also became Champion of the Fraser’s Hill International Bird Race – Bird Race category.

Years in the field have taught me that finding birds is about much more than knowing the location. Understanding their calls, behaviour, habitat and movement can make all the difference — especially when searching for specific target species.
Today, I guide birdwatchers and bird photographers visiting Malaysia, from those experiencing Malaysian birding for the first time to experienced birders travelling with a target list.
If you have birds you’re hoping to see or photograph, send me your target list and travel dates. We’ll plan the trip from there.
